Body Paint 4: I Painted the Sky on her Body

Happy New Years everyone!

I have some great photos to share with you for my first post of the year. After more than two months I finally completed another shoot for my body paint photo series. This week’s theme was inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night. It is the most detailed design I have done so far, and will probably be one of the more complicated themes of the series- It took us about three hours just to apply the paint. Fortunately the time passed quickly with the help of some Coen bros films (O Brother Where Art Thou and the Big Lebowski, to be exact), and we had tea and hot chocolate to warm our bodies and cheer our spirits.

I would like to give a special thanks to Jesca I. Orlidge for modeling for me and for enduring nearly five hours in my cold apartment in nothing but her underwear.

Another thanks to Roxanne Fedrow for helping to apply the paint and holding the light reflector.

I shot the photos with a Nikon D300s DSLR body and alternated with the 50mm Nikkor 1.8 and Sigma 28mm 1.8 lenses attached.

Lighting was achieved with a LumoPro LP 160 external flash triggered off-camera with an Interfit Strobies radio trigger and diffused with a white Westcott umbrella.

For the paint we used Wolfe FX body paint.
